1. ELIGIBILITY: This contest is sponsored by SPRY, Inc. the Internet Division of CompuServe. It is open to US and Canadian residents who are SPRYNET customers and who are 18 years of age or older as of April 29, 1996. Employees of CompuServe Incorporated, H&R Block, CompuServe information providers, SysOps and GameOps; their divisions, affiliates, subsidiaries, travel agencies, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies; and their immediate families are NOT eligible to participate. Void in Puerto Rico, the province of Quebec and wherever taxed, prohibited or restricted by law. Subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  2. TO ENTER: Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. US Pacific time on June 15, 1996. One entry per person. Entrants must use the electronic entry form provided at http://www.sprynet.com./contest.html to submit their home page for consideration in ONE of the following seven categories:

    • Expressive
    • Hobby
    • Source
    • Comic
    • Unusual
    • All the Bells and Whistles
    • Tell us What's on Your Fridge

    Entry forms must include the entrant's full name, postal address, phone number, email address and the URL of the entrant's personal home page hosted on the SPRYNET service; incomplete entry forms will not be processed. SPRY Society personal home pages will be considered for this contest only. No business pages or pages hosted on other services will be considered. To be considered, the entrant's home page must be an original work done solely by the entrant, although it may incorporate non-copyrighted graphics or other elements produced by parties other than the entrant. Entrant's home page must comply with the SPRYNET Publishing Rules and Acceptable Use Policy. The sponsor is not responsible for any lost, misdirected, damaged, illegible or late entries. Entries submitted by means other than the electronic entry form will not be processed.

  3. JUDGING: One finalist in each category will be chosen by a panel of judges based on (1) relevance to the contest category; (2) overall layout and design elements such as navigation, use of color and images; and (3) speed of download/display using a standard PC hardware/software configuration determined by the judges. The home pages of the seven finalists will be displayed July 1-15, 1996, at http://www.sprynet.com./contest.html for voting by the general public to determine the Grand Prize winner. One vote per person. In the event of a tie in the voting process, the decision of the judges is final. After determination of the Grand Prize winner, the remaining six finalists will be designated as First Prize winners subject to eligibility and compliance with these rules. In the event that no entries are submitted in a given category, no finalist will be selected in that category and the total number of finalists, and the number of First Prizes to be awarded, will be reduced by one.

  4. PRIZES: The following prizes will be awarded:

    Grand Prize (1 winner): Multimedia desktop computer to include a CD-ROM, speakers and modem (approximate retail value $3500 US).

    First Prize (6 winners): Six months free Internet access through SPRYNET (approximate retail value $120 US).

  5. GENERAL: Winners will be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and release which must be completed and returned within 21 days or an alternate winner may be selected. Taxes are solely the responsibility of the prize winners. By entering, players release the sponsor and its agent from all liability with respect to the use of the prizes awarded herein, agree to be bound by these rules and consent to use of their name and/or likeness if selected as a winner for advertising and promotion purposes without additional compensation. Sponsors are not obligated to acknowledge or enter into correspondence with entrants. Neither the sponsors or the judges shall be required to render explanation for any decision relating to the administration of this contest except in the event that they are shown to have materially violated these rules.

  6.
